Transition - 3 key factors

This is a pre recorded presentation to listen to in advance of meeting together. In this session we think about 3 key factors to support effective transition;

  • Social adjustment.

Developing new friendships led to increased self esteem and self reported confidence.

Perceiving older children to be friendly supported good transitions.

·       Institutional adjustment.

Support to get used to new routines and organisation helped children.

·       Curriculum interest and continuity.

Close primary and secondary links, including curriculum continuity was supportive.

We will consider some ideas to support these aspects.

If you have previously completed this session with us please use it as a reminder or access the link to paper from which we reference this research using the link. You could extend the thinking to another member of staff working in transition with you (the head of year?).
