Admissions Key Information
Children in care and children who have been previously looked after benefit from priority school admissions. This also covers some kinship care arrangements if the child has previously been in care. Previously looked after children are those who immediately after being in care became subject to an adoption order, child arrangements order or special guardianship order. They are also those who have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
Children who have or have had a social worker do not benefit from priority admissions, unless they are looked after, previously looked after or have an EHCP. Parents may, however, wish to request priority for medical or social reasons and social workers may be asked to provide supporting evidence.
For all Hampshire children in care the social worker should make the school application. There is guidance to support with this below.
