Children who have (or have had) a social worker are a focus group for schools, and the Virtual School works closely with schools across Hampshire to support the educational outcomes for these children and young people.
What Can I Expect from my Child’s School?
- Positive partnerships that support you and your child with all aspects of school. This includes supporting attendance, pastoral needs and ensuring your child achieves well academically.
- Regular communication about the strengths and the needs of my child
- Regular communication with my child so that their voice is listened to
- Targeted response to any emerging needs
- Engagement with wider support, organisations etc
What is the Role of the Social Worker in Supporting my Child’s Education?
- To support communication and collaboration with the school
- To help address any challenges to school attendance, identifying key barriers and the best ways to support
- To know how the school spends pupil premium funding and how this is supporting children with social workers
- To ensure relationships and pupil voice are at the centre of any approach
